"I used to wave sail in Barbados in the ‘90s but back then the biggest wave boards were about
80 litres so the Caribbean trade winds were only just enough. But since then there’s been so
much development in windsurfing most wave boards are now 85-100 litres, allowing us to wave
sail in as little 8 knots of wind! So it’s time I returned to my old favourite windsurfing location,
where the water is so turquoise it makes you want to fall in, Barbados! I hosted some of the
very first INtuition wave courses there 15 years ago and I am so excited to be holding more
there in 2016 and in the future".

Trade winds 10-20 knots from the left (port tack) side to side on shore.

Waves from chest to logo high(1- 3m)..

SAILING AREA
Some ‘float and ride’ conditions likely as well as good planing conditions for jumping. Shore break on the beach, large lagoon area then a reef break mostly covered in a soft carpet like seaweed!.

WETSUITS
No wetsuits required.

RENTAL CENTRE
You need to bring your own windsurfing gear.
You will need a wave board or freestyle wave board that is basically your weight in kilos plus 10-25
litres- for example if you are 80 kilos, please bring an 90-105 litre board depending how experienced you are. Sails 5m to 6.5m, with average sail used 5.4/ 5.8 depending how heavy you are! FYI at 87 kilos I am bringing a 94 litre quad 5.8, 5.4 and 5.1 sails.

HOTEL
The best accommodation is Inch Cape villas, right on the beach, where we can store all our windsurfing gear. I first stayed there when travelling in the Caribbean, long before INtuition and the internet, a friend of a friend knew someone with a house on a windsurfing beach... I arrived and knocked on the door and met Wolfgang and Rosie, windsurfing Europeans who wisely made Barbados their home and restored this incredible colonial house on the beach with teak floors and fossilised coral breeze blocks in tropical gardens. A decade after discovering Barbados I returned with my first INtuition guests, and now a decade later we begin again. I just cant wait to be back there with the sound and spray of the waves filling the villas!

BEACH FACILITIES
Cocktail bars, restaurants, err, anything else you need in paradise? Sun loungers, shades etc.

Surfing, SUP

OTHER STUFF
A combination of INtuition Freewave and Surf Gods courses, requiring some prior wave skills already, right up to the ideal place to learn back loops- a fantastic all round wave location. Also very good for surfing or SUPs.!
