'The Windsurfing Movie' is the best wave sailing action film ever produced featuring the world's best windsurfers going into super radical mode, with fantastic music including the Rolling Stones. Seeing it on a big screen is a must and this is probably your only opportunity- be there in London at The Prince Charles Cinema near Leicester Square, Tuesday 29th April, 6pm (performance starts at 6.45pm) I wish I could be there but I'll be flying back from Hawaii. ......( more )
We are having the most awesome wavesailing in Hawaii. This is truly an Extreme Surf Gods course and as advertised, the most unique windsurfing experience and course ever held. ......( more )
INtuition's inaugural wave sailing coaching Surfari was a huge success and proved that these kind of coaching trips are going to be a great progression for all want-to-be wave sailors. if anything the conditions were too good- Gwithian, the UK's best wave sailing location, was at it's best, with two days of mast high waves! With winds up to 35 knots and huge surf, conditions were super radical, and not for the feint hearted. We battled over enormous white water to ride monster waves for two days and had every opportunity to put IINtuition's damage limitation into practice- and no masts were broken (although a few extensions were!) ......( more )
Gwithian was my first chance to test drive my new sponsors wave kit and it was immediately apparent why so many of the world's best sailors ride Mark Nelson boards (not just Mistral riders!) I used the Mistral Wave Fish RD 74 litres- and it was exceptional. For a board that's designed to be used in mushy waves, UK south coast style, it totally ripped in the quality Cornish surf too, showing remarkable control for a 'real world wave board' but having so much looseness in the turns, yet retaining it's speed. I loved it and have instantly stolen it from the demo fleet and taking it to Maui with me! You will get your chance to try it on any wave course with me later this year. ......( more )
There's still some availability for this weekend's inaugural Wave Sailing Surfari where we chase the storms to find the best conditions in Europe. And right now what a blinding forecast for the UK south coast- better than the Canary Islands and Ireland, so looks like we're staying local (final decision to be made middle of this week!) ......( more )

After Andy's untimely death this trophy was given to Andy's dad Trevor by Animal and is awarded only when windsurfers make outstanding achievements. This is what Andy was into, competing hard at major events but also making huge impressions on his peers for his go for it attitude, both on and off the water. The trophy has only been awarded twice and not since 2005. ......( more )
We're just back from Margarita where once again we had wind every day, ranging from 12-25 knots! Guests learned to carve gybe, waterstart, chop hop, forward loop, duck gybe, use footstraps, sail over powered, accelerate faster, crank upwind, blast downwind, hey, let them do the talking- ......( more )
Having been diverted to Birmingham after nearly crash landing at Gatwick in the recent storms that flattened England, the best way home was to share a hire car with a friend who also needed to return to Poole.
On seeing the road was blocked near Sandbanks, knowing the road well, I thought I should squeeze the hire car through the police barrier and see for myself what the storm flooding had done. Sure enough the sea had swallowed the road, and a local press photographer was shooting the damage, this was a red rag to a bull, and I backed the car up to get the biggest run up. ......( more )
Margarita was the first time I was able to sail my new kit from Mistral and North. I used my 104 Synchro RD (test winning board) and North ICE 5.7 wave sail almost everyday, when I could prise it out of the grip of my guests! ......( more )
The world's fastest wind powered craft is still a windsurfer! Frenchman Antoine Albeau has edged the record closer to 50knots with an average speed over 500m of 49.09knots (approx 56mph) in about 40 knots of wind.
He was covering over 25 metres every second!
To put this into perspective, the fastest speed any of my guests recorded in Margarita for the fastest split second was 32 knots, not their average speed over 500m (which takes approx 20 seconds of sheer terror). 32 knots was set by an incredibly capable windsurfer of 95kgs who regularly planes out of carve gybes and sails large waves. His average speed over 500 metres would have only been around 26 knots. ......( more )
The INtuition Extreme Surf Gods course has got to be the best windsurfing trip in history, since not only are we having two weeks of IINtuition coaching around Maui's best wave beaches, but we will be having day sessions with Nik Baker, Fransisco Goya and Marcillo Browne (current world freestyle champ.) Plus, we have tow-in surfing lined up with Maui's hottest big wave surfers (this is an optional extra of course!) and the aim of the whole trip is to wave sail at Ho'okipa, the Mecca of wave sailing, with Jason Polakow! ......( more )
With a record breaking 800 participants this year, a small team of 20 UK riders including myself, are heading to the south of France for this incredible long distance competition to take on the French and the Tramontana storms that blew 60 knots there last year! ......( more )
"Mistral and I have been in touch re a team move for five years now as we shared similar views and aims for our sport's development. Both of us have fulfilled our goals in this period, proving to each other we're on the right track for a future together, with Mistral totally revamping their brand with a new boss and new boards for 2008 that are all highly developed in terms of shapes and construction (not to mention their radical new line of Mistral Twinser wave boards due to be released soon!) And I've managed to produce a highly acclaimed windsurfing technique DVD, proving that windsurfers want the detailed but clear coaching INtuition is renowned to deliver. ......( more )
